Oh I’m so in You’re everything I’ve been looking for …

You won’t be sorry @New Humanity! And if you are, she won’t let you believe it!

GOOD … I’m ready for someone else - of her caliber - to take charge of my life! Whew what a relief.

You're exactly the kind of member I've been looking for.

Katherine should start a religion with herself as divine object of worship. It provides tax breaks not afforded to cults, obviates the need for manipulating and rationalizing (“Because I’m a goddess, that’s why!!”), makes both clothing and Kool Aid optional and allows her to create a class of priests and force them to wear funny hats. Ayn Rand would’ve had fewer problems if she’d just gone full-goddess.

That's a brilliant idea. Will ponder as I float around in the sky and bring you sunshine.

A Sun Goddess, then. Or is it a metaphor for joy? Anyway, I've started reading this in your honor. It's been in my TR pile for ages, but worship creates an implied sense of urgency. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2009/sep/26/john-banville-infinities-christopher-tayler

This is such helpful advice. I wouldn't be surprised if Katherine the Great made you one of her elite members/chief flying monkeys. Get ready for your best life ever!

Could work. I’m currently between deities.

It's fate and a blessing.

Hopefully, no one will take this serious, too. Unless Katherine can do the sexy/ three miracles/find an animal familiar/predict the future/destroy your enemies thing, in which case I'm clearly an apostate. You could be martyred for worse.

Well. I’m glad someone finally made this crystal clear. You’ve done a wonderful service to cults around the world!

Awesome conversation! I love both of you! ❤️

Hello there. Please correct me if I'm wrong... This is about making empty or false promises by creating an illusion that you will be helping people through manipulation?

Expand full comment

Exactly! Cult leaders believe in their own ideology and how beneficial it would be for others if they adopt it even if it’s harmful.

This goes against ethical and moral principles, isn't your publication about helping people against narcissistic abuse, manipulation, gaslighting, and everything evil regarding this?

It’s possible you’ve missed the deep and subtle humour being displayed here. Imagine if this talk was labelled “how to understand if you’re in a cult”… just saying!

Expand full comment

This is a lighthearted conversation intended to inform people about how to spot cult leader behaviour while mocking the intent of becoming a cult leader. Please tell me you have a sense of humour!

I certainly have a sense of humour, but I don't see the humour in that. Maybe I should watch the video until the end then... I could have missed something.

I would have thought that someone declaring they want to start a cult and someone else who is ironically anti-cult is helping them consider what they would need to get it off the ground would be the beginning of the joke.

This is also funny (to me) because there are loads of community builders who claim to have a democratic community but use the tactics described in the video to build a cult.

I understand, thank you for clarifying this. It seems the role play was really good, and I have a keen sense of noticing even the most subtle signs of manipulation and gaslighting. We have a covert narcissist in the family and she is cunning. An independent person mentioned to us multiple times that she is a master manipulator and a tendency to potentially be dangerous.

They prey on your FOG (fear, obligation, guilt) and they will fabricate and create these to try and get what they want. It is liberating to be empowered by the knowledge we gained by studying a plethora of videos, and websites, and through our own experience. She may be undiagnosed, but she has shown every sign, tactic, and behaviour of a covert narcissist. She is my fiancee's 20-year-old daughter. Apparently, she started manipulating and gaslighting her mother even before she was a teenager. She already turned the entire family against me and partially against her mother through her smear campaign. Her main flying monkey is very dominant and presents her opinions as facts. Luckily, they haven't been able to put a wedge between us, even though they tried hard. Our love and bond is truly strong and our relationship is rock-solid. On top of that, I am a relationship counsellor so I have been able to stabilize things whenever they tried to sway her to break up with me. It has been difficult and hell at times. We have evidence of defamation against both of us and I am eager to sue the main flying monkey for defamation, slander, and attempting to ruin our relationship and/ or completely write off her family and pretend they don't exist to us. At first, she was very reluctant to write off her family, but now she that her eyes opened fully about everything her daughter has done and the damaging effects of her self-centred bullshit as well as the flying monkeys, she is anxious and eager to move on and start our new life together.

She will also minimize contact with her daughter. I really hope she won't use her children one day to try to manipulate the living shit out of her mother again. The moment we hear she may be pregnant, we are going to get a social worker and psychiatrist to help us. Meanwhile, I have been educating myself well on how to counter any tactics, behaviour, and manipulative attempts towards us.
